How A Meeting Works
Three Parts. Every Week
Every H.O.P.E. meeting follows the same simple structure — Ready, Set, Go — giving participants preparation, community, and biblical direction every time they gather.
The Meeting Structure
Ready. Set. Go.
Each session runs 90 to 135 minutes total, divided into three equal parts. Here is what happens in each one.
30 – 45 minutes
Prepare with God
- Verify personal step work as people arrive
- Newcomers receive Beating the Odds and a program explanation
- Existing students work through Formula 4 Life workbook steps
- Fill out award slips as step work is completed
- Put star stickers on the H.O.P.E. Weekly Challenge Sheet
- Hand out Prayer Challenge and weekly prayer list
- Share testimonies — what God is doing, not past sin
- Take up prayer requests and pray
- Give out awards for steps completed
- Quote Psalm 1 together
- Dismiss for the Set session
30 – 45 minutes
Strengthen Together
- Divide men and women if possible
- Group Bible study using the 15 Bible Truths workbook
- Start with Truth 1 — read the truth and the section question
- Ask questions: How does this verse apply to you?
- Focus on understanding and application, not speed
- The leader facilitates conversation — does not dominate it
- Work through all 15 truths over time at your own pace
- Take a bathroom break at the end
30 – 45 minutes
Move Into Action
- Quote the 15 Bible Truths together
- Preach from the Bible to motivate a closer walk with God
- Use Dr. Carter's books as a preaching guide on topics addicts face
- Preach through books of the Bible drawing out application to victory in Christ
- Avoid strictly doctrine-focused topics — focus on practical Christian living
Followed by snacks & fellowship
